You’ll recognize our pacers at the start line carrying pace flags. As in the past, we ask that walkers and participants with strollers keep to the back of the group to allow our runners to safely run the course.
All participants who are not part of a team should register as an Individual. Individuals can make a direct donation to CCVI during their registration process.
CCVI Family Team Registration
Families of CCVI students and alumni can create fundraising teams and are given special Family Team shirts.

Open to kids 10 and under, the Kids' Run is fun for the whole family! Presented by Shook Hardy & Bacon, the Kids' Run takes place at Mill Creek Park on The Plaza. Kids run according to age group in heats of 10 to 15 runners. Younger kids (up to age six) run on the grass while older kids (ages seven to 10) run on the track around the park and can choose a quarter-mile or half-mile course.

History of the Race
Now in its 30th year, the idea for this fundraiser was presented to the Friends of CCVI by the former Michael Forbes Restaurants, Inc., which owned two restaurants, four miles apart in the heart of Kansas City and The Plaza shopping area. The four-mile course follows the old streetcar/trolley tracks and hence, the name, Trolley Run. Trolley Run is the largest annual fundraiser for CCVI and provides a critical funding in the CCVI programming budget. Trolley Run has succeeded through the generous support of our individual and corporate sponsors, including longtime title sponsor Sabates Eye Centers and many others.
Over the years, the Trolley Run has become one of the largest timed four-mile run in the United States, and the first major run in Kansas City to use chip technology for race results.
A Record-breaking Run
Since 1998, several records have been broken for a four-mile U.S. race. The Trolley Run continues to hold these distinctions:
- Since 1998, home of Men’s Four-mile U.S. Best
- Since 1999, home of Men’s Masters Four-mile U.S. Best
- Since 2000, home of Women’s Four-mile Course Record
Race Results Technology
CCVI and the Trolley Run work with the End Result Company for the timing of the race. The End Result Company is a national race timing and technology company and provides electronic chip timing services not only to some of the largest, most complicated events in the country, but also to many regional races.
