From our Family Team Co-Chairs

Dear members of the CCVI family,

Jason and I are honored to be the Family Team Committee co-chairs for the second year in a row. We hope that February finds you well and ready to race and raise money for CCVI! Last year, family teams raised so much money for CCVI, that we were incredibly humbled and amazed, but not surprised. We know how much love CCVI's families have for their children and their school.

This year, we added to our family and had our first child, Arthur Michael. He is such a blessing, and now we truly understand what it means to want to do anything for your child. Arthur was born healthy and big (9 lbs, 2 oz!), but he also was born with microtia, which means that he does not have a fully formed right ear. We currently do not know if he can hear in that ear, but we will be visiting doctors soon to figure out the best course of action for our son. While we are so grateful that he has full hearing in his other ear, we know that many families are not so lucky. Many children in our area are born with multiple disabilities or conditions that require many surgeries or special treatments. This is why we are so fortunate to have CCVI in our community. It is the only school in the area that helps children with visual impairments - more than 380 children were served last year! The school steps in even right at birth, at a time when families are feeling scared and vulnerable. If Arthur had been born with a visual impairment, we would have been so thankful to know that he would receive the best care possible at CCVI.

This is one of the many reasons we want to help the Trolley Run in any way we can, since it is CCVI's biggest fundraiser. Because CCVI must raise two-thirds of its annual budget, we need your help more than ever. Last year, family teams raised a whopping $54,812. This year, we would like to raise $55,000.00! With your help, we know we can meet this goal. We encourage you to create a family team to support your current student or alum. We'll see you on race day!

Thanks for supporting CCVI's kids through the Trolley Run. We hope to see you on race day!

Sincerely,

Jason & Michaela Soyland
