2017 Race Day FAQs
Hello Trolley runners, and happy race week! Below, you can read up on some frequently asked questions I get about race day. I can't wait to see you cross that finish line!
Q: Where is Packet Pickup located?
A: We moved to a new location this year! Packet Pickup will be at 1020 Westport Road, KC, MO 64111. We are next to the First Watch in the Old Westport Shopping Center.
Q: Can I pick up my packet on race day? Is there race day registration?
A: Yes. We offer limited race day packet pick up in the SE parking lot at 75th and Wornall. We offer race day registration for $50 but please know you are not guaranteed a t-shirt or to be in the results immediately following the race.
Q: What happens if it rains?
A: We run rain or shine. In the event the weather is too dangerous for running, we make that call after holding for up to one hour. There are no refunds.
Q: How do I get to the Start Line?
A: We bus our runners from the Plaza up to our Start Line beginning at 5:45am. Arrive early to catch a bus, especially if you are an elite runner. We start our race at 7:45 a.m.
Q: Tell me about the pace groups and hold and release start.
A: Due to the size of our race, we've opted to remove the waves of the past and have a hold/release start with pace groups in an effort to reduce race route congestions. That means when you arrive at the start line, you'll look for the pacers (wearing orange shirts and carrying pace flags with anticipated pace per mile) and line up with your pace. Then, a team will hold and release groups of approximately 400 at a time. Remember, your time doesn't start until you cross the start line timing mat.
Q: May I run with a stroller?
A: As long as you are in the walking pace group, yes! This is a safety issue, and we appreciate you helping us keep Trolley Run safe for all participants.
Q: May I run with a pet?
A: No, the only animals allowed on the course are seeing eye dogs.
Q: I injured myself and cannot run. May I transfer my registration to a friend?
A: Unfortunately, we cannot allow transfers of bibs per our race insurance.
Q: Do I have to wear my race bib?
A: Yes! Your timing chip is in your bib so in order for you to be timed, you need to wear your bib. In addition, your bib number is how you will search for race photos of yourself. Our friends at SportsPhotos.com will be taking lots of photos all day that will be free to download!
